Thick & Thin

                                              by Steve Watson  11.27.99

It seems that things are much too thick,

or else they’re way too thin.

These days one or the other, but,

that’s not the ways it’s been.

The pizza crust is much too thick,

the sauce is way too thin.

Is dough that much more cheap or

did they not put something in?

Rogers neck is much too thick,

his hair is way too thin.

He’s missing half his lower teeth

but has an extra chin.

Aunt Edna's gotten much too thick,

her daughter’s way too thin.

Edna’s made of fat-on-fat,

her daughter’s skin-on-skin.

And Billy's head is much too thick,

his understanding’s way too thin.

Though teachers want to help the boy

there’s no place to begin.

Population’s gotten much too thick,

but kindness is way too thin.

If we don’t wake up very soon,

it will be such a sin.
